Lot of Two Works: American School, 20th Century, County Fair with Merry-Go-Round, signed "HOFF" lower right, inscribed "McMillen" in pen on the reverse, gouache and ink on paper, sheet size 12 1/2 x 8 7/8 in. (31.8 x 22.5 cm); Max Günther (Swiss, 1934-1974), Composition St. Pierre, signed "Max Gunther" l.r., also titled, dated and signed "...1960 MAX GUNTHER" on the reverse, identified on label from Galleria L'88, Rome, on the reverse, oil on canvas, 7 3/4 x 23 3/4 in. (19.7 x 60.3 cm); both framed. Condition: Fair with scattered flaking and losses, acid burn, tack holes to the corners, St. Pierre with surface grime, canvas deformations, and subtle craquelure. Provenance: From the collection of Louis Albert McMillen. Acid burn to the reverse, masking taped to window mat along top and bottom edges.
