William Mason Brown (American, 1828-1898) A Summer Day - Long Island Initialed "WMB" l. r., identified on a period label affixed to the reverse. Oil on board, 7 x 9 1/8 in. (17.8 x 23.1 cm), framed. Condition: Craquelure with alligatoring, scattered retouch, surface grime. There is some very mild bowing to the support. Craquelure with alligatoring/separating predominately in area of large group of trees (l.l. quadrant). Retouch is small area in l.l. corner. The work might benefit from a gentle cleaning.
