American, third quarter 19th century. A set of two thumbprint glass and pewter tankards comprising of a large stein or tankard of cylindrical cranberry glass with outswept round base and clear glass handle of c form, and mounted with a square pewter figural medallion to one side and hinged lid to top, marked to the interior of lid Schall & Co; and a second smaller ruby glass stein of similar form and decoration, apparently unmarked. Large tankard approximate height 11.25". Small tankard approximate height 9.25". Provenance: From the Estate of Mary L. Hougk, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
