Lot of Two Coastal Views: Dirk Van Dyke (American, fl. c. 1934), Abstract of Rocks, signed and dated "Dirk Van Dyke...-1934" l.l. and l.r. respectively, identified on a label from the Annual Exhibition for Michigan Artists, Detroit Institute of Arts, Detroit affixed to the reverse, watercolor on paper, sight size 10 x 13 in. (25.4 x 33.0 cm). Edwin Booth Grossmann (American, 1887-1957), Fishermen by the Shore, signed "Grossmann" l.l., oil on canvas, 20 1/4 x 30 in. (51.4 x 76.2 cm). Both framed. Condition: Abstract not examined out of frame, Fishermen subtle surface grime. Provenance: From the collection of Frank Cook Adams, Boston, Massachusetts. N.B. Grossmann was the grandson of Edwin Booth, the famous American 19th century stage actor best known for his lead roles in Shakespearean plays, particularly Hamlet , and the grandnephew of the notorious John Wilkes Booth.
