James Abbott McNeill Whistler (American, 1834-1903) Street at Saverne , fourth state of five (Kennedy, 19). Signed and with publisher notation in the plate. Etching on paper, plate size 8 1/8 x 6 1/4 in. (20.5 x 15.8 cm), framed. Condition: Not examined out of frame. Out of the frame, the margins are over 1 inch and the sheet measures 11 1/8 x 8 3/8 in. There is mat toning (very unobtrusive) to the margins and verso, as well as pencil annotation to the lower margin and verso. There are several minor stains near the edges of the sheet, all well away from the image.
