James Abbott McNeill Whistler (American, 1834-1903) The Adam and Eve, Old Chelsea, 1879, second state of two (Kennedy, 175). Butterfly monogram in the plate, identified on a fragmentary label from Frederick Keppel & Co., New York, on the reverse. Etching and drypoint on paper, plate size 6 7/8 x 11 7/8 in. (17.4 x 30.0 cm), framed. Condition: Scattered fox marks, gentle rippling and toning, not examined out of frame.
