Archaeological Revival Gold and Glass Bead Fringe Necklace, Castellani, c. 1880, designed as a fringe of grape leaves alternating with clusters of shaded purple glass grapes, suspended from foxtail chain, unsigned. Note: A Castellani necklace of purple grape clusters appears in the catalogue of the exhibition Castellani and Italian Archaeoligical Revival Jewelry, The Bard Graduate Center, New York, November 2004-February 2005, no. 232. Provenance: Descendants of the Walters Family, Baltimore, Maryland. See lot 530 for further history. Castellani Necklace The necklace is in overall very good to excellent condition. There are some very slight and unobtrusive bends to the leaves and leaf tips (see photos) and grape clusters due to the softness of the material, but this is only noticeable under close scrutiny. Also some tarnish to the links above the grape clusters. APPROX. lg. 16 1/4
