Continental, late 19th/ early 20th century. Art Nouveau brass and ebonized wood dresser set or vanity set comprising of an ovular wooden base raised on four looped metal feet decorated with leaf bunches, the feet attached on a metal apron with gadrooned and beaded bands, the wooden base surmounted with a raised and sweeping form mounted at left and right with lidded baskets having diamond patterned reticulated walls below scalloped rim with star motif, the sweeping form at center with round porcelain dish bearing hand painted depiction of an 18th century styled young beauty in flowered hat over powdered wig to a gilt background surrounded by a wide band of green, the dish backed with ovular mirror and the whole decorated with sculptural leaves and acorns. Apparently unmarked. Overall approximately 9" tall, 9" wide, 4.75" deep. Provenance: From the Estate of Mary L. Haugk, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
