French Silver Covered Ecuelle, late 18th century, likely Paris, possibly Pierre Claude Pottiers, maker, the domed lid with artichoke-form finial on cut-card work quatrefoil leaf, the body with handles cast with female busts within ram's-head-topped scrolls, lid and body engraved with noble coat of arms, depicting a halved oval with three birds on gules to top, over three birds on silver, topped by a coronet, and ending in a cruciform order, lg. to handles 12, ht. 5 1/2 in., approx. 26 troy oz. cutcardwork below lid finial with a few old solder repairs, and small losses to leaftips. age/cleaning ear to raised surfaces of handles. minor dings. Marks to body rubbed and indiscernable. Maker''s mark (attributed to Pottier) clearer to a handle.
