Five Silver and Silver Plate Matchsafes, late 19th/early 20th century, three sterling: a leaf-engraved English double-lidded example, an American sterling, with Renaissance Revival edge decoration, and central scene of fleeing classical couple, and an Unger Brothers with rocaille scrolls; and two plated, one formed as an eagle head, the other Chinese Aesthetic Movement, with chrysanthemums and house, lg. 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 in., approx. 3 troy oz. weighable silver. all with minor age/urface wear. Double-lidded example with minor compression to wide sides, and a few pinpoints. fleeing couple with some wear to raised areas. Plated eagle heaf with loss of most of plating, and with name engraved to top of eagle''s head (H.B.N. Francis).
