Pietra Dura Mounted Box and Cover, Italy, late 19th century, rectangular form with bird decorated plaque inset into a hardwood box, approx. plaque size 5 3/4 x 8 1/2; box size 7 1/4 x 10 in. The plaque has four hairline cracks, three running from the tips of branches, one running from the tail of a bird. The box with a small chip to an inside corner of the top frame.
