James Abbott McNeill Whistler (American, 1834-1903) Nocturne: Palaces, an impression from the cancelled plate (Kennedy, 202). Signed with butterfly monogram in pencil l.l. and in the plate. Etching and drypoint on paper, image size 11 5/8 x 7 7/8 in. (29.5 x 19.8 cm), framed. Condition: Unobtrusive toning and staining, cockling, trimmed to the plate mark (signature on a small tab), not examined out of frame. Out of the frame the paper is a thin laid paper. The toning and staining are mild, as is the cockling. The later is primarily to the upper corners.
