Anthony Thieme (American, 1888-1954) Gloucester Harbor Signature incised "AThieme" l. l., identified on a label from Grand Central Art Galleries, New York, affixed to the reverse. Oil on canvas, 30 x 36 in. (76.2 x 91.4 cm), framed. Condition: Minor scattered retouch, scattered craquelure, surface grime. Provenance: A private East Coast collection. Pencil inscribed "Gloucester Harbor $400" u.l. on the reverse, craquelure throughout, circular cracking at center approx. 4" diameter, slight indentation to canvas at center, not lined, consistent varnish layer. Could use a cleaning. The retouch is scattered dots and dashes.
