Wiggins was born in Brooklyn , New York and studied architecture at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn before attending the National Academy of Design. Wiggins worked and painted predominately in Manhattan and Old Lyme, Connecticut. By the 1920s, Wiggins had gained popularity for his depictions of the streets of Manhattan in winter. These Impressionist views capture the luminosity, movement, and color of the city on a snowy day. A copy of an appraisal from Findlay Galleries Inc., dated 1966, accompanies the lot. The work might benefit from a gentle cleaning.
