Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn (Dutch, 1606-1669) Chirst Before Pilate: Large Plate, 1635 (Hind, 143; Munz, 204; Hollstein/White & Boon, 77 IV/V). Signed within the plate. Etching on paper, plate size 21 1/2 x 17 5/8 in. (54.4 x 44.7 cm), framed. Condition: Trimmed along the plate mark, laid down, scattered abrasions and/or silverfish damage within image. Abrasions/silverfish damage to scattered areas predominately to the figures in the forground. There are also some surface rubs and abrasions (with possible silverfish damage) to the extreme edges. There is also toning and gentle rippling. A small stain at the u.r. edge.
