George III Silver and Medallion Mounted Presentation Mug, London, 1810, maker's mark rubbed, (possibly Peter and William Bateman), tapered cylindrical, with horizontal reeding, inset with a British silver commemorative medallion, verso with "Both Hands Filled For Britain, George Reigning", recto "Growing Arts Adorn Empire, Caroline Protecting", likely c. 1736, encircled in an engraved presentation inscription and monogram, ht. 3 1/2 in., approx. 6 troy oz. makers'' mark rubbed, but other marks good. Surfaces of medallion very worn, especially to exterior. Engraving reads: The gift of the late Mrs. M. Fletcher of Darcy Lever.
