Isidore Konti (1862-1938) Bronze, 1905. 250th Anniversary Commemorative Medal, dia. 3 in., in original case. Note: Originally a public monument was to be erected in Central Park but the funds were diverted to aid Russian Jews persecuted by Pogroms. Two gold medals were presented to President Theodore Roosevelt and ex-President Grover Cleveland "in recognition of humane endeavors on behalf of the Jews oppressed in other lands" and to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Jewish settlement in America. An additional thirty-six examples were struck in silver and 284 medals were struck in bronze.
