Ball, Black & Co. Coin Silver Centerbowl, New York, mid 19th century, also marked E&S, likely Eoff & Shepherd, bell shaped bowl chased and embossed with fruit and flower cartouches, with scalloped acanthus-engraved rim, on trumpet foot with further repousse, and ropetwist rim, engraved with small presentation inscription dated 1856, ht. 10 1/4 in., approx. 26 troy oz. Very good condition with light overall wear; inscription to the side in between the floral sprays. Inscription is just below rim, between two cartouches, and reads: Sarah Brittain from Mary Ludlow Powell May 13, 1856.
