Parcel Gilt and Medallion-mounted Silver Tankard, likely Russian, late 17th/early 18th century, marks obliterated, assayer's mark AK, the tiered lid set with a medallion of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, with Latin inscription to circumference, dated 1549 verso, and scene of their expulsion recto, tapered cylindrical body acid etched with strapwork ground, with reeded girdle band, and eight goldwashed bosses chased and embossed with fruit, one applied with a silver roundel engraved with a coat of arms, handle cast with an eagle holding a piece of fruit in its beak, lid thumbpiece formed as a Dionysian cherub seated on a barrel, ht. 4 in., approx. 24 troy oz. Age typical surface wear. Minor vertical upper rim tear approx. 1/4", with interior area associated with this tear with 1/4" x 1" vertical strengthening repair (this repair is only visible from interior).
