French, first quarter of 19th century. French Provincial giltwood barometer, in the late Louis XVI with floral cresting centered with bird and trophy with ribbon tied quiver and beribboned garland over the oval glazed frame housing the conforming white painted wooden dial stenciled and titled Barometre and Thermometre de Reaumur to margins and calibrated in barometric inches between 27 and 29 with the usual observations in French, the center applied with spiral bulb Reaumur scale alcohol tube thermometer. The case terminating in a beribboned laurel swag. The backside of case with a newer glass tube containing the mercury along with a system of strings and a pulley. Approximate height 35.5", width 19".
