Early Beaded Cloth Shot Pouch and Powder Horn Set, Cree (? ), c. first quarter 19th century, red trade cloth with black trade cloth details, backed with muslin, the pouch and both straps with simple circle, oval, and pre-floral devices edged with two sized white glass trade beads, sinew sewn, the tab ends of both straps edged in silk, with an early commercially made powder horn with lathe-turned cap, (minor bead loss and insect damage), lg. of shot pouch 28, wd. 6 1/2 in. Provenance: Nathaniel Hurd, Frederick, Maryland, descended in the family. Note: A similar shot pouch was collected by Prince Maxmillian on his famous trip up the Missouri River in the 1830s.
