Arthur Hoeber (American, 1854-1915) View of Nutley, New Jersey Signed and dated "ARTHUR HOEBER 1904" l. r., artist and location inscribed, possibly in the artist's hand, on the reverse. Oil on canvas, 24 x 20 1/4 in. (61.0 x 51.4 cm), framed. Condition: Retouch, varnish inconsistencies, loss u.c., craquelure, surface grime. Retouch is a few scattered dashes and small areas as well as boarder areas of light washes (predominately across the middle of the composition within the wooded areas). Small puncture with loss (1/2 inch or less) u.c. in addition to some minute scattered losses. Craquelure is stable throughout. The work would benefit from a gentle cleaning.
