Transfer Decorated Liverpool Pottery Pitcher, England, early 19th century, one side depicting a scene entitled "Washington In Glory, America In Tears," showing a bust of Washington on a monument facing left, the reverse depicting Washington and Liberty and a map of the United States, (without footnotes), with the names "Pelatiah & Hannah Freeman" inscribed in a wreath under the spout over and American eagle and shield surmounted by thirteen stars, (spout chip minor hairlines), ht. 9 1/4 in.; accompanied by a small framed image on white glass depicting, according to family history, Hannah Freeman, one of the names inscribed under the spout. 1/2 in. spout rim chip, curved hairline under lower handle terminal, about five small hairlines can be seen to the interior around the sides, barely visible on exterior. An internet search shows a gentleman named Pelatiah Freeman was active in late 18th c. town meetings in Castile, Maine.
