Mahogany Lyre Wall Clock, Boston, Massachusetts, circa 1830, painted iron dial with Roman numerals and marked on the reverse "S. Adams Patent," carved mid-section, lower hinged box for pendulum access, molded pediment and eight-day time only movement with iron weight and pendulum, (restoration) ht. 41 1/2 in. A Samuel Adams is listed in Boston Directories in 1825, see: Paul J. Foley, Willard Patent Timepieces , p. 208. Mid section glass is a restoration, lower glass old with recent blocks holding it in the frame, numerals on dial carelessly enhanced, refinished, mid section carving originally screwed to case frame, now held by pins, lower acorn is a replacement, refinished.
