Redware Jug, America, early 19th century, ovoid jug with incised bands about the rim and shoulder, daubed with brown manganese around the rim and handle and splotches on the body, (minor chips), ht. 8 1/4 in. 1/2 in shallow rim chip, and a couple glaze losses on rim, approx. 18 firing imperfections due to clay impurities around the body, and have been painted over with a clear varnish to stabilize, several old small base edge chips.
