Coin Silver Porringer, Attributed to John Burt, Boston, (1692/3-1745/6) circular bulbous bowl with domed bottom, cast handle pierced in a keyhole pattern, indistinct impressed maker's mark on the handle "JOHN BURT" in a rectangle, monogrammed "HIA" on handle, (two splits on handle, dents), bowl dia. 6 in., approx. 9 troy oz. Provenance: Family descent. A photocopy of a handwritten note from 1932 accompanies the porringer. There is a reference to it stating: "the porringer was given to me by my Aunt Lizzie Howe. (for whom my middle name) my father's eldest sister, unmarried." There are several dents around the bulbous portion of the bowl.
