Queen Anne Cherry Carved High Chest of Drawers, Chapin School, probably Hartford County, possibly Enfield, Connecticut, c. 1775-1810, old replaced brasses, old surface, (minor imperfections), ht. 72 1/2, wd. 38 3/4, dp. 17 1/2 in. Literature: Illustrated and discussed in Connecticut Valley Furniture: Eliphalet Chapin and his Contemporaries, 1750-1800 , Kugelman et al., p. 190, Catalog 85. The authors note that "this is the only Chapin School flat-top high chest with two drawers in the lower case. Despite the simplicity, it is competently made and follows Chapin shop practices quite closely." the brasses on this high chest have been replaced after the photograph shown in the book was taken.
