Needlework Sampler, Zoe Davidson, Windham, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, 1817, worked in silk threads on a linen ground, the central field with rows of alphabets above a lower register with signature "Zoe Davidson Born Feb 19th 1804 & Wrought this 1817," over a pious verse: "Through every Period of my life/Thy goodness I'll pursue/And after death in distant worlds/The glorious theme renew," enclosed on three sides with a geometric border, the upper corners with two fruit trees, the bottom register with trees and flowers flanking a central basket of flowers, 20 1/2 x 16 in. , in a contemporary burl veneer frame. Note: Zoe Davidson was born February 19, 1804, in Windham, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. She was the daughter of William and Jenny Davidson. William also born in Windham on December 9, 1770. Zoe made the sampler when she was thirteen years old. Minor fading and toning. Professionally conserved and framed with a spacer.
