Currier & Ives, publishers (American, 1857-1907) Central-Park, Winter. The Skating Pond., 1862, (Conningham 954 ). Identified in inscriptions in the matrix. Large folio lithograph with hand-coloring on paper, sheet size 21 3/8 x 29 1/2 in., in a contemporary carved giltwood frame. Condition: Margins of 1 1/8 in. or more, light stains, light toning, repaired tear into image u.r., several repaired small margin tears. Note: This lithograph ranks no. 3 in the original "Best 50," and no. 7 in the "New Best 50," large folio. color is good and very strong, nearly undetectable well repaired tear goes into image about 1 1/2 in. at u.r. tree, several unobtrusive repaired tears in margins and corners.
