Cast Iron U. S. and Spain Mechanical Bank, manufactured by J. & E. Stevens Co., Cromwell, Connecticut, c. 1898, the bank activated by placing a coin in front of the ship's mast and pulling the hammer back to position and placing a wooden shell (missing) inside the cannon and pressing the thumbpiece, shooting the shell at the mast and knocking it over and depositing the coin into the bank, (paint wear, lacking shell), ht. 4 1/8 in.
