Chinese Export Porcelain Armorial Covered Tureen, Ch'ien Lung period, c. 1768, octagonal covered footed tureen with lion finial on cover and boars-head handles, decorated with the arms of Louthian, the motto "Non Dormit Qui Custodit" (the sentinel sleeps not), and an image likely taken from a bookplate, with polychrome scene of foliage, ships, and buildings about a central bridge, likely the Firth of Forth, a tombstone to the lower right dated 1768, overall ht. 8 1/4, wd. 8 1/2, lg. 14 x in.
