Federal Mahogany Tall Clock, attributed to J. B. Jones, Pittsfield, New Hampshire, c. 1815, with inlaid finial plinths and free-standing columns flanking the arched and glazed hood door, rectangular bird's-eye maple veneered, banded and inlaid waist door, quarter columns with inlaid plinths, the base with central flame birch oval on a geometric mahogany veneered panel with multi-colored, line and fan inlay, central drop panel on the skirt, variant French feet, 12 in. painted iron dial with Arabic numerals, moon's age in the arch and eight day, time and strike movement with tin-cased weights and period pendulum rod and bob, (imperfections), ht. 88 in. Jacob Jones (1749-1839) is listed in Parsons, "New Hampshire Clocks and Clockmakers", page 323. pierced fret is a replacement, finial plinths and feet are original; minor losses on inlay and banding; minor loss of glue blocks in base, one replacement finial others are period, weights, pendulum, hands are original; dial is undisturbed
