English, circa 1876. A classical silver plate urn with cover for coffee, tea or hot water, with domed shaped lid having an urn finial, the urn-form body with cavetto collar and opposing mounted ring handles, a small engraved shield to the front, possibly sterling, with lion passant, date code for 1876 along with the letters V.M. in a rectangular cartouche, the tapered body with reeded spigot and raised on a cavetto square base above spherical feet. The underside of base stamped "John Tylor London". Approximate height 21", square base 6.75" (foot to foot).
