James Abbott McNeill Whistler (American, 1834-1903) The Traghetto, No. 2, fourth state or later of six (Kennedy, 191). Monogrammed and inscribed "imp" in pencil l.l., monogrammed in the plate. Etching with drypoint on paper, plate size 9 3/8 x 11 7/8 in. (23.6 x 30.7 cm), framed. Condition: Thread margins with cut-around for monogram, subtle crease or printing fault to image u.l., gentle soiling and rippling, not examined out of frame. Provenance: A New England estate.
