In 1876, post-impressionist painter Lucien Bleyfus was born in Thorigny-sur-Marne, near Paris, France. While many of his paintings center around farm and village life of France, he has also produced numerous landscapes of Provence, the Riviera, and the Maritime Alps. Among his works, two were exhibited as symbols of the province Orléans at the Paris World Fair in 1937. Bleyfus also served as a member of the Société des Beaux-Arts in Nice and exhibited his works in the Monaco Salon, among other reputable salons in France.
