Alphabet Painted Wooden Panel, attributed to Eric Gill (1882-1940), England, rectangular panel with cream colored lettering and numerals on a black ground, (panel split), 25 1/4 x 11 in. Note: Eric Gill was a sculptor, graphic artist, and type designer. His accomplishments include designing book covers and fonts for several publishers, with his son-in-law, founding his own hand-press that printed luxury bibliophile editions, designing a postage stamp, being named Royal Designer for Industry in 1936, and producing stone tablets for the League of Nations building in Geneva.
