Small Grain Painted Dome-top Box, America, early 19th century, the dovetail joined rectangular box with hinged lid, grain-painted and highlighted with red and mustard yellow linear borders, an ink inscription inside the box reads "Made by Harriet Hurd Cotton's uncle Willis Hurd died Libby Prison Civil War, (Samuel Hurd's brother)," ht. 3 5/8, wd. 3 3/4, lg. 6 5/8 in. Note: Libby Prison was a Civil War prison in Richmond, Virginia.
