Silver Overlay and Carved Wooden Letter Opener, late 19th century, the letter opener with relief carved wooden horse and rider over a pumpkin, the wood purportedly from the Sleepy Hollow bridge in Tarrytown, New York, the date 1697-1897 engraved at the top of the blade, lg. 12 in. Note: The letter opener may have been made to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow in Tarrytown New York, which took place in October of 1897.
