Needlework Sampler, "New York wrought by Catharine Almedia Rankin," early 19th century, the sampler worked in silk threads on a linen ground, stitched with a verse entitled Prayer, over a row with flowers, a basket of fruit, and Catharine's signature stitches, enclosed in geometric border and an undulating flowering vine border, (scattered small oxidation spots, toning), 17 x 12 1/2 in. , in a later 20th century molded wood frame.
