Grenfell Hooked Picture Mat with Dog Sled Scene, Grenfell Labrador Industries, Newfoundland and Labrador, early 20th century, the rectangular rug composed of bleached and dyed rayon and silk strips hooked onto a burlap backing, depicting two figures on a komatik pulled by a team of five dogs in a northern landscape, the dogs hooked with sisal which is raised and sculpted, done in shades of brown, off-white, blue, black, and green, with thin tan and wide black borders, a woven maker's label affixed to the reverse, mounted on a wooden stretcher, 26 3/4 x 39 1/2 in.
