Small Paint Decorated Dome-top Trinket Box, attributed to the "compass decorator" of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, 1800-40, the rectangular dovetail-constructed pine and poplar box with sheet iron and wire hinges and punch-decorated lock hasp with vestiges of tin remaining, ornamented with compass-incised, red and white hand-painted floral decoration on the top and sides against a blue ground, ht. 3 3/4, wd. 3 7/8, dp. 2 7/8 in.
