Brigham Arts & Crafts Covered Urn Sterling silver and gemstone Boston Society of Arts & Crafts, 1927 Pink tourmaline finial surmounting crown shaped lid, set with six cabochon yellow sapphire stones with silver bead decoration on a silver body with tooled bands at finial and lid bases, fitting into a wide silver collar with conforming banding and shaped strapwork decoration below, hollowed urn form amethyst body, mounted to silver base with conforming stone and silver decoration, fissures and inclusions in the amethyst body, ht. 3 1/2 in. Note: The lot includes the original receipt of sale. The urn was in the Tercentennial exhibition held at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in 1927. William Edgar Brigham was a designer, goldsmith, and silversmith for the Boston Society of Arts & Crafts, holding the distinction of master craftsman from 1914-1927.
