Plains Carved Bone Roach Spreader, c. 1900, in the form of a cut-out hand, traces of red pigment, custom stand, ht. 4 3/4 in. Provenance: Collected in 1998 at Pine Ridge Reservation from an Ogalala Sioux family. They purportedly acquired it around 1900-10 from a member of the Omaha tribe in Macy, Nebraska.
