Rare Southeast Beaded Cloth Sash, Creek, c. second quarter 19th century, the panel on black trade cloth and backed with an early patterned velvet, beaded on one side with multicolored bilateral floral pattern, with two bead, spot-stitch background, remnant silk and bead edging, drops from the ends are natural dyed red wool with white pony beaded edging and tassels at the ends, they appear to have been braided at one time, (some have separated from the sash, bead loss, damage), sash panel lg. 26 1/2 in. Provenance: Given in the 19th century by Native Americans in Oklahoma to the Reverend B.F. Tharpe, for services rendered, and then descended in his family.
