Sterling Silver Beaker, Charles Aldis, maker, New York, early 19th century oval form with applied band of stamped shells around the base, engraved with the name William Bradford D'Wolf, touchmark of Charles Aldis on base, (repairs, dents), ht. 3 in., approx. 3 troy oz. Note: The beaker probably once belonged to William Bradford D'Wolf, born Oct. 30, 1810. and a member of the D'Wolf family of Bristol, Rhode Island, who made their fortune in the slave trade and the West Indian trade. He died Jun. 16, 1852 and is buried in the De Wolf Family Cemetery in Bristol, Bristol County, Rhode Island.
