Man saying goodbye to his family as he prepares to leave for battle (wearing hat and metal breastplate). Father seated in chair as his young female child kneels on ground resting in his lap. His wife in a white fur trimmed and blue dress holds a rolled document in hand, likely papers ordering his leave. Figure outside door preparing his horse for his departure. Framed approximately 34" x 29.5". Unframed approximately 25.75" x 21.5". Note: Alternate spelling of the artist's last name is Hoogh or Hooghe.
