English Jacobean-style Treenware Covered Chalice, indistinctly dated 16--, carved with biblical verses, body with four cartouches, carved respectively with the royal arms of England, (showing lion and griffin supporters flanking gartered crests of the British nations with initials "IR"), Scotland (showing unicorn supporters flanking lion rampant crest), with an ostrich, and with a hart with an eagle, the cup on egg shaped stem and spreading foot, with slightly domed lid with acorn finial, ht. 12 1/2 in. Provenance: Deaccessioned from a Northeastern Institution.
