Pre-Columbian, Late Chimu culture (1100 AD - 1470 AD) to early Incan Empire (1438-1533). A stirrup spout black-ware pottery vessel, the globular body having decoration in relief on either side of a panther in profile with spiraling tail leading to left, two legs with articulated toes in view, and face turned toward the viewer displaying wide eyes and a whiskered face, with a monkey form clutching to the left side of the stirrup near spout. The Chimu culture existed in modern day Northern Peru until approximately 1470 AD when it was conquered by the Inca. Approximately 8 5/8" tall x 5 1/2" wide x 5 3/4" deep.
