Classical Mahogany and Mahogany Veneer Lady's Work Table, probably New York, c. 1825, the rectangular hinged top with crossbanded border and thumb-molded edge opens to a fitted easel interior, the case below with faux and two working graduated drawers, flanked by inlaid panels, all on vase and ring-turned, spiral-carved legs, continuing to casters joining a medial shelf with concave front, replaced wooden pulls, original finish, (minor imperfections), ht. 30 3/4, wd. 24, dp. 17 3/4 in. Provenance: Descended in the Clark family of Greenport, New York, with accompanying family history indicating it was purchased in 1823 when John Clark and Maria Davis were married.
