Currier & Ives, publisher (American, 1857-1907) LIFE ON THE PRAIRIE: The Trappers defence, "Fire fight Fire. " 1862, (Conningham, 3528). Identified by inscriptions in the matrix. Lithograph with hand-coloring on paper, sheet size 23 1/4 x 31 1/4 in., in a molded bird's-eye maple frame. Condition: Margins of 2 in. or more, light toning, creases, tears and repaired tears in margins, minor edge losses. Note: This lithograph ranked no. 20 in the original "Best 50," and no. 24 in the "New Best 50" large folio.
